Artist Statement

I am an Ottawa artist working in both ceramics as well as mixed media paintings.

My clay work is hand built and sculptural in an expressive style.

I create vessels as well as figurative sculptures. I love to work intuitively, responding to the form as it emerges - I have a passion for the material and the handbuilding process.

My work explores tensions and contrasts – historic and modern, inner and outer, the visible and the hidden – elegant forms in balance with rough, rustic surfaces.

After a career in Engineering and full time mothering, I returned to my passion in the arts, studying through many courses and workshops at the Ottawa School of Art and elsewhere. I am a member of Gladstone ClayWorks in Ottawa.
