Some of my work is inspired by nature whereas some pieces are just funny and quirky. Many of my pots start off on the wheel and I then add sculptural elements to give them different personalities. I love to make pots that make people laugh. Working in clay brings me to a very serene and calm place, most of the time at least.

I am a local potter. My work is inspired by nature, usually patterned, often geometric, stylized and textured, with fluid leaves, spirals, and slip trails. I want my work to be beautiful and functional.

Artist Statement
Working with ceramics feels valuable, important. The endeavour of creating objects with my hands, allows me to be at once grounded and connected to something visceral, ancient, to humanity through form and function. I lean into the unpredictability and chance that the art of ceramics invites. I challenge myself with the question “what if" and step into the new dimensions of creativity, of texture, colour and shape that this question invites. I am currently drawn to creating large vessels on the wheel, and coaxing from them organic textures reminiscent of those found in the natural world; aged bark, cracked earth. Inspired by the colours and subtle hues found in nature, I apply glaze by hand using various and ever evolving techniques.

My ceramic practice is rooted in storytelling through form, texture, and colour. I am inspired by the organic shapes and vibrant palettes found in nature and cultural landscapes. I create functional and sculptural pieces that invite curiosity and connection. Each work begins with an intuitive gesture, whether hand-built or wheel-thrown, and evolves through my various experimentation with glaze layering, funky handles, and unusual surface details. My process is slow and intentional, in line with the rhythms of the natural world and my commitment to sustainable, mindful making.
